J&M Tank Lines proudly announces its newest Spotlight Driver, 9-year veteran, Danny Headley. Danny works out of our Calera terminal hauling lime across the Southeast. Danny was nominated this month because of his pliability and willingness to be a team player.

“He shows up every day with a smile on his face and goes out of his way to help other drivers if they have any issues; a real team player with a great attitude,” says Corporate Dispatcher Pam Blalock.

Q: What makes you a team player?
I view being a part of a team like a chain. If you get a broken part in the chain, it stops working properly. When I see something that needs to be done, or I can help a team member to make things move faster or more efficiently, my motto is to not break the chain, jump in there and do it. I like to keep the flow going and I hate complication.

Q: What is your favorite part of working for J&M?
The relaxation is my favorite part of working here. I have worked a lot of places, but J&M has been the best. They know what they are doing and they hire experienced drivers and dispatchers. My relationship with the dispatchers and the company is healthy and there is a strong level of trust and communication. Whenever I have issues, I know I can count on J&M to help me get the problem resolved.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself here at J&M doing the same thing; grinding. I like the go, go, go. When I have time, I like to go out fishing for bass on my boat.

Q: What would you say to someone thinking of becoming a J&M Driver?
Stick with it! Give it a chance. Don’t be quick to judge it. Eventually, you will find out that you can make your own schedule.

Q: What is your dream truck?
I would have to say a Kenworth with a big sleeper! I love my T680!

Congratulations Danny on being chosen as a J&M Tank Lines Spotlight Driver! Thank you for all of your hard work and for being such an amazing team player!

J&M Tank Lines is proud to announce its first ever Spotlight Driver Dedrid Poole! Dedrid is a 14-year veteran of J&M who hauls flour from our Birmingham West Terminal. His hard work, dedication and exceptional training skills are just a few reasons why he was chosen to be this month’s Spotlight Driver. Every other month, for the past three years, Dedrid sits down for ten days and trains eight or more new drivers on the ins and outs of becoming a driver for J&M Tank Lines. “Being a good teacher means you have to have patience, build relationships and take time to reward your trainees; even if it is something as small as buying them a biscuit in the morning. When a trainee feels appreciated, they have a higher success rate,” explains Poole of his time spent as a Trainer. “Seeing success in my trainees is the most rewarding part of training. I do what I can to build a relationship with them by being up front and honest. I want to share with them my knowledge and experiences. If they are willing to learn, I am willing to teach.”

Congratulations Dedrid Poole on being chosen as J&M Tank Line’s first ever Spotlight Driver and thank you for your dutiful and diligent work!
